Welcome to The Good Wife

Season seven of The Good Wife is upon us. While it's definitely not at its height, and whatever the hell that happened with Marguiles and Panjabi, it's been overall just a spectacular drama. Like, up in my top five shows. Last season was a weird ethical rollercoaster, with a couple of PHENOMENAL instances of sexual chemistry between Alicia and Finn (ah, Finn, I'll miss you), but now we're reset again. Alicia is scrambling, Peter is politicking, and there's partnership shenanigans over at Lockhart, Agos, and Lee. Or whatever they're called.

Three Things I'm Hoping to See This Season

  1. Alicia being as badass as she wants to be. This usually coincides with Alicia being exasperated into a rage. But it's certainly more fun than her weird political ambitions the last couple of seasons.

  2. Eli Gold on the rampage. While he's often the most cartoonish--outside of Elsbeth and, uh, the Kyle Maclachlan character--he's also ferociously competent. And if there's anything I enjoy most in a narrative, it's a character that knows exactly what they're doing, and confident they're doing it well.

  3. This image is from a couple of seasons back, but I want more interaction between Alicia and Cary and Diane. They make wonderful partners, and even more wonderful opponents, because they each respect each other, even when they're at odds. Here's hoping for more witty repartee, without any nonsensical antagonism.

Two Things I am Going to Miss A LOT

  1. I know Josh Charles wanted out, and they did it pretty definitively. But, for real, SUCH amazing chemistry.

  2. Och, Kalinda. You deserved so much better.

And now, my thoughts on the season premiere, "Bond," as delivered via livetweet.
